The Vehicle Engineering College of Hefei University of Technology boasts a well‑established research team in areas such as powertrain optimization for non‑road mobile machinery and vehicle‑network‑based sensing. The two parties have agreed to jointly train 5–8 internship engineers in vehicle engineering each year, with the enterprise providing real‑world industrial R&D projects and the university contributing algorithmic and theoretical technical support. In the laboratory’s initial phase, over RMB 600,000 has been invested to set up an engine test bench, a high‑and‑low temperature environmental simulation chamber, and an IoT data‑simulation platform, focusing on tackling two key R&D challenges: an adaptive power‑management algorithm for smart forklifts and an online early‑warning system for gas leaks.

Meanwhile, the two parties plan to co‑develop an industry‑reference document, the “Safety Technical Specification for Gas Conversion of Internal‑Combustion Forklifts within Factory Premises,” thereby filling a standards gap in this niche field. A representative from the Shushan District Science and Technology Bureau remarked that this university–enterprise collaboration has established a closed loop spanning “R&D–testing–mass production,” fostering the growth of Shushan District’s intelligent‑equipment SMEs toward specialization, refinement, uniqueness, and innovation.
