U.S.-made IMPCO dual-fuel LPG/gasoline conversion kit
- Product Description
-
Advantages of LPG conversion kits:
1. Significantly reduce environmental pollution
Compared with gasoline, LPG use can reduce carbon monoxide emissions by 80%, hydrocarbon emissions by 75%, and nitrogen oxide emissions by a significant margin.
II. Economic Efficiency:
1. When LPG is used as fuel, the air-fuel mixture entering the engine is a dry mixture, eliminating the atomization and carbon buildup issues associated with gasoline. This results in superior lubrication and significantly reduces engine maintenance costs.
2. It helps improve engine performance: LPG is primarily composed of propane, which boasts excellent anti-knock properties and minimizes detonation, significantly reducing engine noise. Its complete combustion prevents carbon buildup, substantially extending the engine’s service interval and enabling maintenance cost savings of 50% to 80%.
3. Reduce fuel costs: According to theoretical calculations, one liter of gasoline and one liter of LPG deliver roughly the same mileage; however, it is clear that LPG is about one-third cheaper per liter than gasoline.
III. Safety:
Because every component of the entire “fuel system” is manufactured exclusively by the U.S. company IMPCO, and has undergone meticulous design and rigorous testing, its performance is both safe and reliable. Moreover, since LPG has a higher autoignition temperature than gasoline and a large latent heat of vaporization that provides self‑cooling, its safety is significantly enhanced.
Our company’s LPG conversion kits are designed for both carbureted and EFI‑equipped forklift engines.
The basic operating principle is as follows:
LPG is stored in steel cylinders. Before starting the forklift, open the manual valve at the cylinder outlet. The liquid LPG passes through a filter and a vacuum‑actuated shut‑off valve: the filter removes impurities from the liquid, while the internal valve closes immediately when the vacuum signal from the carburetor is lost—such as when the internal‑combustion engine stops for any reason—thereby cutting off the LPG flow. As the LPG flows to the vaporizer/regulator, it is heated and vaporized into a gaseous state, undergoing two stages of pressure reduction to reach the operating pressure required by the engine. However, the internal valve remains normally closed; gas only begins to flow when the engine’s operation generates a vacuum suction. Because the vaporization process absorbs substantial heat, engine coolant must be routed to the vaporizer/regulator to prevent icing. At this point, the gaseous LPG enters the LPG mixer, where it is blended with clean air in a precisely controlled ratio to form a combustible gas that is fed into the engine’s combustion chamber, enabling the engine to run smoothly and deliver power. In a dual‑fuel system, when switching to gasoline, simply activate the fuel‑selection switch. The system automatically closes the LPG supply circuit via a solenoid valve, allowing the gasoline supply to operate normally.

LPG forklifts are available in single‑fuel and dual‑fuel configurations, which differ slightly in their system architecture. Dual‑fuel forklifts retain the gasoline carburetor and add a switch to toggle between the two fuel sources. The operating principle is as follows: LPG is stored in liquid form within a cylinder; upon engine start-up, the liquid LPG passes through a filter and a vacuum shut‑off valve. This valve removes impurities from the liquid LPG while simultaneously opening or closing the LPG supply path based on the engine’s vacuum signal. As the LPG flows into the vaporizer/pressure regulator, it is heated and vaporized, undergoing two stages of pressure reduction to reach the pressure required for internal‑combustion engine operation. The gaseous LPG then enters the mixer, where it is blended with clean air at a precisely controlled ratio to form a combustible gas that is delivered to the engine’s combustion chamber, enabling the engine to run smoothly and generate power.
